What Have We Done?

We realize that we are a new business. We realized you've probably never heard of us. We also realize you've read this far and we want to take this opportunity to communicate where we came from, why we've branched out on our own and what makes us qualified to help you develop, refine, and execute your solutions.

Prior to starting Moxie Group, Inc., we were System Architects at Fry, Inc. where we architected and integrated enterprise web sites for clients, led development teams, and represented the technical vanguard of the solutions that were provided to the organization. We are personally responsible for the launch of dozens of large scale web sites that you've probably shopped at. But that's not all we did.

While at Fry, in the early days of this millennium, an idea was born to create a home grown e-Commerce platform that addressed many of the shortcomings of the existing platforms and provided a framework to implement and extend new ideas and concepts. This radical idea came from a small group of people at a small mid-western company. The idea was the Open Commerce Platform. The small group were the founding partners of Moxie Group. A decade later and that idea, and the ideas built upon that framework, have been powering some of the largest e-Commerce sites on the Internet. An idea that competes in the space of giants like IBM's WebSphere Commerce and Oracle's ATG platform. An idea that has transacted billions of dollars across many holiday seasons.

Let's Name Names

At this point, many people can claim they've been in the Internet space for a long time and done many things. In order to broadly capture the type of work we've done in the past, and what we are responsible for on the Internet, let's enumerate a portion of the clients we've had significant involvement with:

Keep in mind, we've been at this a long time and some of the sites listed have grown up since we were involved with them and are being managed internally by their own organizations as completely separate business units.

For the full list of the ways we may have affected your online shopping experience, take a look at Fry's full client list and see if you're familiar with any of those sites. If you are, you've likely shopped on technology we designed, created and expanded over the course of 10 years.

Around The Block

We were forged in the early days of the Internet when e-Commerce web sites were considered pet projects. We learned and grew our capabilities as the Internet expanded. We've worked hand in hand with Amazon, Endeca, Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP to evaluate and develop their software to accommodate our clients needs. In doing so, we've run pre-release, beta-versions, and versions of software that still had their codename written on a CD-R. The point is, we've worked directly with many many of big players in the online space and had input on some of their offerings to allow us to deliver what our clients needed.

Why Leave The Nest?

Our departure from Fry, Inc. was bittersweet. We left the safety and security of a place we comfortably called home for many years and jumped into total uncertainty and significant risk. Why? We did it to build things again. From scratch. We had another one of those ideas.

Moxie Group exists to meet two goals:

We wanted to create a perpetual opportunity for ourselves to tackle hard problems. We realized that what we really, really enjoy is solving hard problems. We like to see new challenges and new problems that need solutions. Brainstorming and researching solutions is something we do very well and actually enjoy. This is where we need you to bring us these problems.

Secondly, we have new ideas for software that needs to be developed. We've been exposed to new concepts and capabilities that we can leverage to make something exciting. Things like Cloud Computing, Big Data, and OSGi are allowing us to execute our visions for software offerings that we think will be very useful while also allowing us to spend time at the bleeding edge of software. We are developers at heart and love to create software. If things go as planned, you'll probably be using our software again.
